Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Dwyane Wade continued his brilliant start to the
young season as his 38-point, eight-assist effort lifted Miami to a 109-100
victory over the Pacers.
Wade, fresh off a 40-point, 11-assist performance, hit 15-of-24 from the field
for Miami, which has won two of three. Shawn Marion was solid in recording 18
points, nine rebounds, six steals and four assists, while rookie Michael
Beasley added 17 points and six boards.
"[Wade] is so elusive with the ball. He is so quick," Indiana's Danny Granger
said. "His speed is really unmatched. It is really hard to contain him,
especially when he has his jump shot going."
Udonis Haslem, nursing a toe injury, contributed 16 points and eight boards in
the win.
Marquis Daniels and Granger paced Indiana with 25 and 23 points respectively,
as the club has dropped four of its last five games.
The teams traded baskets for most of the fourth and Granger's three-pointer
with 2:41 to play made it a 99-98 game in favor of the Heat.
Haslem came down and missed a jumper, but consecutive steals led to fastbreak
dunks by Wade and Haslem. Beasley's jumper on the next possession escalated
Miami's lead to 105-98 with 1:16 to play, and put the game out of reach for
the Pacers.
"We used our energy, quickness and effort," Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra
said. "That's when we're at our best...We simply have to play hard, as hard as
we possibly can."
Indiana pulled ahead in the early going with a 9-2 run to end the first, as
Daniels' 10th point of the frame put his team up 31-20.
The Heat nearly matched the Pacers point-for-point in the second and trailed
60-48 at the break before rallying the next quarter.
A 14-3 run -- thanks to six points at the stripe -- got the Heat within 65-64
midway through the third. Chris Quinn's three-ball at the third-quarter buzzer
knotted the game, 79-79.
Game Notes
The host has won 10 of the last 11 in this series...It was Wade's sixth 30-
plus point game of the season...Rasho Nesterovic and T.J. Ford scored 13 and
11 points, respectively, for Indiana, while teammate Troy Murphy led all
players with 11 rebounds...The Pacers had 21 total turnovers to Miami's 11.
